For the first time in over 20 years, Poland is facing an oversupply of certain professions, according to Gazeta Wyborcza. The problem isn’t just limited to fields like translation, graphic design, and architecture—there’s a noticeable surplus of senior managers too. In fact, companies are being inundated with applications for top-level positions. At Europe Solutions we have received over 100 applications in one week for a senior manager role, of whom around 15-20% were currently unemployed, whereas for a construction manager role we received just 20 applications with only four being suitable.A Close-Up Shot of Paper Clipped Documents

Looking ahead, the labour market is expected to face shortages in areas like construction, with trades such as carpentry, bricklaying, and plastering in particularly high demand. Fewer young people are entering these fields, and much of the training is done on the job rather than through formal education, which is making the problem worse. Other sectors, like vocational teaching and healthcare, especially paramedics and mental health professionals, are also struggling to fill positions.

In contrast, areas such as marketing and professional services have been hit by layoffs, and at Europe Solutions, we’re seeing a rise in applications for these positions. Many senior managers, affected by corporate cutbacks, are now on the lookout for new opportunities. While they’re often willing to relocate or accept roles below their previous level, companies can be reluctant to hire them, concerned they may not adapt to working at a lower level or take a new role at a higher salary and quit early.

While the job market is changing, the competition for certain positions is fierce, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult for job seekers to stand out.
